Day Before My Birthday

Posted on 2005.12.09 at 23:14
Saw the CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE LION THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE. 'Twas fabulous. One of the best movies in a long long time...

I'm excited about my birthday tomorrow!

Brittany's post about books, here's mine...

Take the first 5 novels from your bookshelf, then do the following:

1. Book 1 - take first sentence
2. Book 2 - the last sentence
3. Book 3 - second sentence on page 100
4. Book 4 - next to last sentence on page 150
5. Book 5 - Final sentence of the book.

Make the five sentences into a paragraph. Feel free to cheat and make it a better paragraph. Name the sources and then post.

"In a valley shaded with rhododendrons, close to the snow line, where a stream milky with meltwater splashed and where doves and linnets flew among the immense pines, lay a cave, half-hidden by the crag above and the stiff heavy leaves that clustered below. I wonder if this is how it is for everyone my age. "Lily, your mama's gone," she said softly. He laughed, surprised after all. Whatever our struggles and triumphs, however we may suffer them, all too soon they bleed into a wash, just like watery ink on paper."

Book 1: THE AMBER SPYGLASS by Philip Pullman
Book 2: THE NOTEBOOK by Nicholas Sparks
Book 3: THE SECRET LIFE OF BEES by Sue Monk Kidd
Book 4: ELLA ENCHANTED by Gail Carson Levine
Book 5: MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA by Arthur Golden

Ella Enchanted was a much better book than movie. Chronicles of Narnia was a much better movie than book (which is VERY rare). I'm so disappointed that MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA isn't playing in a 50 mile radius of me, even though it's a major motion picture.

Anyway, happy about birthday tomorrow.

Isn't rhododendrons a great word?
